Ms. Ferszt is a Los Angeles, CA based Artist and Photographer with a passion for traveling, creativity, and seeking out the beauty in this world. She is driven by a constant pursuit to be enriched by new life experiences, particularly by immersing herself in foreign lands and exploring the splendor of the natural world. A life-long artist, she became a professional painter by developing a style that reflects on these experiences. Later, her appreciation for photography as an art form turned into a desire to master the craft as another creative outlet; and one that she could work on more easily while traveling. Both her art and photography are inspired by nature and seek to capture the exquisite imagery she sees around the world. She aims to draw the viewer in with the same emotion she felt upon seeing the real-world inspiration for each work on her journey.

Largely self-taught, her formal art education includes one semester studying Photography, one year studying Painting, and three years studying Art History at Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts and in the school’s London Centre. She also holds a B.A. from Syracuse University in Advertising and Psychology, and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.

RTIST STATEMENT

A

“When I look at a blank canvas I become excited by the thought that by using just paint and my imagination, I can create something of value, and contribute an object of beauty to this world. The goal of my art is to be understood and appreciated universally- by a person of any age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic background, or culture. For this reason, I am particularly drawn to the genre of contemporary abstract expressionism because this style of art allows me to transform my own thoughts, feelings, and perception of the world in a way that each viewer can see and interpret in accordance with their own unique perspective.

As an outdoor enthusiast and avid traveler, I am constantly inspired by the landscape around me. I see the natural world as a beautiful canvas and I strive to emulate its beauty in my work. My pieces may be representative of an entire landscape scene, an element of a landscape, or the raw emotion experienced or inspired from a particular place. They tend to have a strong element of line and an equilibrium representative of the comfort I find in creating harmony and nature's own way of balancing out the environment. My work is meant to capture the viewer and evoke a sense of the serenity, peace, and awe I experience while admiring nature and to make the viewer dream, meditate, and take a moment to reflect on the world and their own personal journeys.

Although I begin each piece with an idea of what I'd like to convey, my painting is a journey of evolution. I find it therapeutic to get lost in the process and explore different techniques; and I never know how the finished work will look until I feel satisfied that it is complete. "
